Passengers onboard AirTran flights now have the ability to pay for upgrades after they've already boarded. The carrier's hope is that once passengers walk past the nicer seats, they'll reconsider taking their original seats and pay an additional $49-$99 per person to upgrade.
Business class seats on AirTran are approximately 4 inches wider than coach and allow for approximately 7 more inches of legroom.
Flight attendants will announce seat availability prior to takeoff.
If you're sitting next to someone you really don't care to sit next to, $99 may be a bargain to make the move.
